New CFLC students arrived on campus on September 10 and 11. They were welcomed into the College by upperclassmen and completed their registration under the guidance of undergraduate and graduate counsellors. CFLC officials, including Party Secretary Chen Zhiwei, Deputy Party Secretary Yang Yunliang and Vice Deans Xu Qi and Xin Zhiying were also on site to greet the incoming students, which included 218 in undergraduate programs and 92 in graduate programs.

On the morning of September 10, XMU President Zhang Rong and Vice President Deng Chaohui arrived on the site to greet the new students. President Zhang praised CFLC for its meticulous arrangements for welcoming the new students. He walked up and down the lines of students, introducing himself, finding out why families chose XMU, and assuring parents that their students are in good hands. He also posed for photographs with the students and their parents.

As a welcoming ritual, incoming students were asked to write inspirational messages for their future selves on specially-prepared postcards hung on a background board. This special ritual affirms CFLC’s commitment to equipping students with the wisdom, skills, global horizon, creativity and attributes to become responsible global citizens capable of making contributions to their professions and communities.

Among the new students were a number of international students, each of whom had been assigned an upperclassman to help them navigate through the registration process. Despite the sweltering heat, many student volunteers were on site to guide new students to their residence halls and help haul in their luggage.

With the start of a new academic year, the faculty and staff at CFLC are eager to assist students and offer advice for starting the year on the right track.
